Hello:
There is a two-hour show entitled, "Hippies," starting now (midnight ET) on "The History Channel."
Description:
(Not sure what to expect -- note the first line):
The Hippie movement was the most controversial and influential of modern times. Free love, the peace movement, drugs, Eastern religions and communes are explored. Meet the figures whose words and actions inspired it and destroyed it. See how the vibrations from that era are still resonating today in almost every aspect of American life, from the clothes we wear, to the Personal Computer and the Internet. Finally, historic footage, stills and period graphics are interwoven with expert commentary and eyewitness testimony.

Rating: TVPG

I've known two different friends who were partially raised on a commune. Neither had much good to say about the experience.

I used to think the whole communism thing sounded swell - until I moved out of my parents house and had room mates. No thanks.

Hey guys:
I thought it was decent for midnight on a Sunday night when there was nothin' else on the screeen. Nice to see and hear so much from "Mountain Girl." I always wondered why Jerry saw that era as "another lost opportunity in human history." Now I have a better sense of what the day-to-day reality was like in that environment.
I think they show a dude that called himself "Dr. Devil"(?) ...started his own Devil Religion or something like that(?) ..a different guy than Manson.

Later, --- AshesRising

I watched it earlier today, it's okay, but it mostly focuses on the negatives of what was going on during that time period. They do talk about Kesey and Bear and the Acid Tests, though, and how they were a positive thing. Oh yeah, they also mention this group of "scruffy young musicians" named the Warlocks, or something like that.
